That's what sushi said!

Mode: 4 Player
Hardware: Pan, Steamer, Sushi rolling accessories.
Accessories: Vodka and 7up.

I went out on a magical journey to Manchester and brought back a fellow warrior, EMERALD SAGE who loves the animals, but not so much on a plate. I wanted to show her my awesome ability to make vegetarian sushi. And also non-vegetarian sushi. Oh, also noodles.

Segregated for their own benefit.
We delegated a sidequest to her Bee-Eff to pick us up some food items while I prepared some sushi rice in the steamer. In the mean time, I got bored and started chopping vegetables for it. So far all I got is pickled beetroot and mangetout.

I'm still suspicious about whether or not bayleafs do anything.
Prepared a noodle soup stock thing to cook the noodles in. Cant really remember what I put in this. Lotsa soy sauce, some bean paste, salt and pepper, a bit of coriander and ginger I think?

Ramen-Ra, appointed by his noodly appendage.
Noodles go in! I'm gonna try juggling cooking noodles with making sushi and hope I don't burn anything.

Also booze. Hi mum!
Hooray! Our buddy has returned with the goods we require to continue. We've got prawns, salmon, spring onion, shiitake mushrooms, a cucumber.

Yes everyone, that is a Duckula egg cup.
Here's the set-up I handed to Emerald Sage, I taught her how to roll sushi nori.

...filled with vinegar.

You get the seaweed wrap, put the rice and fillings all on one edge, like so...

This is how we roll.
Then you roll it up using the bamboo mat to aid your evenness and grip, and seal the end by moistening it with some rice vinegar. You then chop it with the sharpest knife you can find. Good luck with that, though.

Since the salmon we got was uncooked fillets and not smoked, I stuck that in the steamer for a while while we made the vegetarian rolls.

Cooked the shiitake out of them.
Here's the noodles cooking well, they get spring onions, mangetout and shiitake mushrooms. I was gonna fry them separately to put on top, but I ended up nearly burning them so I mixed them in the noodles instead.

The game genie of cooking.
Here's another way to roll sushi things... in a funky little sushi roller gadget! Doesn't work so great with seaweed though.

Still quicker than making a pie.
I then assembled all our creations, and as you can see for comparison, a vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal side by side.

Post-Mortem: ***** Looks snazzy. Tastes snazzy, vegetables or non. I love me some sushi. I think the others liked it too.

Hamster Cupcakes

Mode: Party Game!
Hardware: Mini Cupcake Oven.
Accessories: Maroon Amazon's birthday movie and dinner party.

Our favourite Yorkshire heroine is having a birth-anniversary, and in the single hour between work and going to her house, I decided to see if I could sneak in some surprise cupcakes!

I started with your basic fairy cake batter: (1/3 cup each of self-raising flour, butter, sugar, 1 egg) and used a tablespoon of rose flavoured syrup for the flavouring. This also would turn it a delightful pink colour... infact... its actually the EXACT COLOUR AND CONSISTANCY OF THAT SLIME FROM GHOSTBUSTERS 2.

'Why am I drippings with goo?'

Now, I don't have time to let these things cool and add a proper layer of icing. But hamsters being fluffy and unpredictable, this will work out ok. I used some candy citrus wedges for the ears, some chocolate writing-icing and some little sugar hearts for the nose. Awwwwwww.

Post-mortem: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Rainbow Cupcakes

Mode: Party Game!
Hardware: Cupcake Maker and a load of bowls.
Accessories: Undisclosed volumes of southern comfort and lemonade.

So on Saturday, I had the TTF COMPANY BBQ to attend, and I was bringing a dessert. An opportunity to experiment, and the test subjects: people I rely on to make a living.

So I began by making a basic cupcake batter. I'm not even sure I have any weighing scales anymore, so I just went by approximate cups. 1 cup of self raising flour, 1 cup of fine white sugar, 100g or so of butter, 2 eggs. (Generally the first 3 are equal parts, I guess) And also some vanilla essence. About 1 teaspoon.

Next, I separated the cake mix into SIX different bowls, and dye them each a different colour. At this point, I was like... man, what am I doing? This isn't going to be worth all this effort. This might be a bad idea.

I messily spooned a tiny splodge of each colour into a cupcake case, I held it in a little tray while I was doing this, but then I actually baked it in that funny cupcake maker (it's like a waffle iron or sandwich toaster but for cupcakes)

Holy shit it worked! As you can see, the batter managed to stay nicely separate so you don't just get brown cupcakes. RRRRRRRRAINBOWS.

Now, like a numpty, when I decorated these later with my flatmate/assistant whom I shall codename GREEN LEPRECHAUN, I forgot to take pictures. This was foolish. But hey, you saw the rainbow cupcakes.

Post-Mortem: ??? I didn't actually try one. But they look snazzy.
