As we say goodbye to the golden country, senshi shows us all how it's done by cooking a mean breakfast.
I don't know what photo to use for this... heres a bunch of different animals hanging out.
We should pick our battles for this one... i hate doing too much at once. I'll but pre-made soup and sausages, and make the scrambled eggs and pancakes myself. It would be really cool to do souffle pancakes, because senshi's pancakes look really thick like that. They are notoriously tricky though.
I bought these tasty sounding "hot honey and chili sausages", i think the sweetness will go nicely with the no-syrup pancakes.. I'm going to go ahead and slow-grill these sausages ahead of time, so we only need to pop them in the pan for a few minutes at the end. Also get a load of that shape in the middle sausage, lol. Also yes the bottom of the grill is messy, ummm i dont care.
I followed a recipe for the souffle pancakes, basically we have to separate the eggs and make a batter with the yolks and a meringue with the whites and combine them at the end...
its a whole step-by-step process of whisking in each thing but we've got yolk, milk, baking powder and flour in here.
Since its nearly ready lets start heating the pan so we can get straight to it before the meringue settles.
Uh, never mind... this meringue is... not meringuing... ugh. Should I not be using a stand mixer, is that bad? is it because my cream of tartar is old as hell? am i impatient? Btw this meringue has the cream of tartar and sugar in it.
OK these did not rise at all.. maybe I need to refresh all my baking ingredients and stop using ancient shit from the back of my cupboard... but on the plus side, they look like adequate pancakes. Bit small though.
Let's just make some better sized ones and stack em up. that's a perfectly fine pancake, you wouldn't have guessed it was made with a completely different recipe to american style pancakes would you?
I'm still kinda mad though... whatever, lets cheer up with some scrampy egg. I actually have some leftover cream i need to use up, so these are mixed with cream and butter.
Now THATs a scrambly egg!
Things are suddenly coming together, let's throw a small bowl of that soup in the microwave. For some reason its crazy hard to find plain/creamy pumpkin soup around here, but curried squash soup will do.
I cannot even fathom getting up first thing in the morning and doing all this. I made this at like 5pm. I'm docking a point because i didnt make souffle pancakes. And the soup is fine but it doesn't really fit with the sweet fried breakfast vibe. Though idk, maybe thats not a negative..? The pancakes were sweet and somehow not too rubbery, the sausages were GREAT i would get those again, the scrambled egg was sublime (i seasoned it with salt and pepper).
