Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #55: Hamburger

 Hamburger is made from POWER STEAK


Cooking mama taught me how to make an authentic hanbagu from scratch, but that means I dont have to flex it i can just buy some nice borgs already made yee


Frying them in the pan


flippin and frying till they're well done on the outside


and then i'm going to make a quick and simple HANBAGU sauce with sake, beef gravy, soy sauce, ketchup and worcestershire sauce


just mixing it up in the pan with the meat juices


TRY NOT TO SPATULA FLICK IT ALL OVER MY KITCHEN AAH GDDANMIT

Really nice! I made the sauce slightly different from my cooking mama hamborg but this ones very nice too. The shop bought burger was kinda better than mine tbh. But its just a single burger on its own, room to fancy it up a bit i reckon.

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #54: Omelette Plate

 Omelette Plate is made with BIG EGG and HORSETAIL


We've got plenty of egg and some leftover asparagus from my freezer for the horsetail.


also some like, salad stuff for garnish.


We're gonna fry and season the asparagus (i used some orange pepper mix) and then put it to one side.


then we splat up some eggs and just make a normal omelette the normal way


then when its almost cooked i put in all that asparagus and fold it up. I could have made it a proper omurice or just something a bit more complex i guess but its sunday night and i just dont care tbh

Yeah its decent like, its an omelette with veg. The chewyness of the fried asparagus doesnt go super well with the omelette but its not bad yknow. I took a chance on using barbecue sauce just cause it matched the game sprite and that actually went surprisingly well with the two ingredients so thats cool.

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #53: Fried Egg

 Fried Egg is made with BIG EGG


I feel like a plain fried egg comes up a lot in videogames, so i'm going to use this to show you my favourite way to serve fried eggs! I couldnt be bothered seeking out an especially BIG EGG so we can cook it in my tiny novelty pan so that it looks big. EGG MAGIC


so my favourite way to fregg is to cook it with a bit of sesame oil, sprinkle some shichimi togarashi (or dried chilli and salt and whatever) and cook till all the white is solid but the yolk is still runny. And then pop it on top of a bowl of instant noodles!

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #52: Volcano Shroom

 Volcano Shroom is made from SHROOM SHAKE and HOT SAUCE


We've got mushrooms, big ones, and we've got hot sauce (mango sriracha). Let's do grilled cheese-stuffed mushrooms.


This is just like a cheese toastie but probably worse (yes im reusing some foil dont worry about it)


The cheese has grilled nicely, no problems here.

The grilled cheese was nice but ugh the big mushroom was so wet and slimy. I should have marinated it or dried it or something...? or maybe there's no salvaging this I just dont like these big mushrooms. I just wanted to pick the cheese and sauce off and put it on some crunchy toast.

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #51: Shroom Steak

Shroom Steak is made from ULTRA SHROOM SHAKE


I was originally going to just do a big mushroom or something, but as luck would have it I came across these actual mushroom steaks in the wild!


Well this looks... unique. I wouldn't call it steak-like but its pretty cute. We're shoving it in the oven for 20mins and im going to make some gravy to go with.


Don't suppose you remember that SHROOM BROTH I made in #5? I told you it'd be a real dinner someday! I've defrosted it and im going to just mix some of that broth with some instant gravy, and some salt and pepper that I felt it needed when we tasted it earlier.


The instant gravy thickens it up real nice. Gonna try and draw a mushroom with it lol

This might actually be an optimal way to eat mushrooms! Somehow the steak and mushroom based gravy eliminates all the bad flavours I don't like about fried mushrooms and you've just got this nice, protein-y dense slab with a rich, superior gravy. Perfect with some chips and roast dinner veg.

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #50: Roast Shroom Dish

 Roast Shroom dish is made from SUPER SHROOM SHAKE


We've got our super shrooms here, some regular closed cup ones. Since this recipe looks like they're in some sort of fried chicken bucket, i thought it'd be cool to do some BREADCRUMBED shrooms. Might help that I already had a vegan spiced breadcrumb kit gathering dust in my cupboards already. Let's!


The kit says to use plant based milk since it's meant to be vegan, so pretend I did that yeah. I'm flexitarian so its fine but obviously use plant based milk if you're cooking actual vegan.


Then there's a powdered spice mix AND panko to mix together. smells nice already.


then we dunk them wet and then dry


I thought about deep frying these, but the kit says they're for oven baking so lets try it their way! Plus it does say ROAST shroom dish. Also ignore the mystery nuggets in the background, thought id have a bit of tofu for some variety with my dinner.

Never really liked breadcrumbed mushrooms much before, but these are probably the best ones i've ever had! I guess because they're not from frozen the mushrooms just taste fresher, and the spice mix is a great pairing for vegetables. Still, a recurring issue we keep having is I still find them just too wet in the middle. What's the secret to dry, yet non-rubbery mushrooms? Is that just a pipe dream? Heh... pipes... yknow because mario...

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #49: Fried Shroom Plate

 Fried Shroom Plate is made of SHROOM SHAKE


Time to suck it up  and make some regular fried mushrooms. I'm going to try and make them good though, so ive bought these fresh today (pre-sliced ones were on sale) and ill cook them with butter and white wine and soy sauce.


A decent glob of butter because its here to flavour them as well as cook.


Rinsed and patted dry and in they go.


Once they're starting to brown I add a drizzle of soy sauce and white wine, then when they're fully cooked i drain off any excess liquid so that they dont get all soggy.

Wtf these are actually... kinda nice? I mean ill probably get sick of them after ive had like 2 mouthfulls because im actually starving right now and mushrooms are still sorta gross but... i dunno as far as fried mushrooms go this is the way to do it.

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #48: Shroom Delicacy

 Shroom Delicacy is made with SHROOM SHAKE and DAYZEE TEAR


I thought this would be another good excuse to use some oyster mushrooms for the shrooms, and then we've got whole dried chamomile (from the tea bags) for the dayzee tears, with which im going to make some sort of creamy sauce? Also some other stuff that I may or may not use let's find out.


Frying up the oyster mushrooms and some chopped onion.


Meanwhile we prepare the sauce. I've got some of that shroom broth out from recipe #5, vegetable stock, cream, soy sauce, ground pepper, and then ive split open a teabag of whole dried chamomile flowers and shoved that in!


Oh i also made some rice to go with. You can have whatever. Wait are you really going to make this recipe? Really? I don't believe you.

Oh my goood this is super nice! The porcini mushroome broth makes this extremely flavoursome already, and you can just about taste the chamomile in there, which has this weird pollen-y flavour but it isnt bitter at all. All of the elements went together shockingly well. Chamomile umami gravy might not be for everyone, especially since it looks like the evil fungus den in Control, but its a novelty recipe that slaps. Or maybe the fungus has taken over and thats just what they want you to think!

Super Paper Mario: Saffron & Dyllis Super Show #47: Weird Extract

 This WeIrD eXtRaCt is made with PEACH JUICE and HOT SAUCE. Yeah I guess thats a bit weird.



I've got peach juice, I've got a jalapeno based hot sauce, and i've got a bit of extra chilli flakes to seal the deal. I don't have a crazy flask and its not gonna be green. I kinda wanted to do like a bloody mary type thing? but I didn't have celery to hand so i've included a carrot stick. Weird juice.

What we have here is peach juice that makes the back of your throat feel really hot.
